JRE is pleased to present the captain of Team Blue, Murphy Blue, to JRE’s December meeting to share his experience on tying multiple people.
Multi-Person Bondage, or “Sure, You can get tied up, too!”
When you add a second rope bottom into the mix, you add a second set of needs, desires, and expectations. This class focuses on some concepts and ideas to help you keep everyone as connected in the scene as possible, even if there are no knots holding them there.
For more info about Murphy you can find info on his website or fetlife profile.
See you there!

JRE is happy to welcome Monsignor Naugahyde, aka AgeVitam. For October, he will be presenting on kazari nawa.
Kazari nawa (Japanese for decorative rope) is a term used to describe the wrapping, weaving, and knotting of left over rope to complete a tie in Japanese style bondage. In this class, we will learn how to use kazari nawa to add support, cinch loose lines or correct other errors in a hastily built tie, and most importantly, to add a personal touch and decorative flair to our ropework.
This is a hands-on class, so be sure to bring rope (four or more 8 m (26 ft) lengths) and a partner.

When tying, we encounter a wide range of flexibility in our play partners. The first instinct when looking at someone with limited range of motion is to exclude certain common ties. Instead, the top can choose to modify the tie to create a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing form.
On Sunday, September 18th, JRE is happy to welcome back MataLeao, presenting on modifying traditional Japanese ties to suit people with different ranges of flexibility.
Hope to see you there!

The Rope Games in July were a lot of fun and showed many of us that an escape-proof tie isn’t as easy as it seems.
On Sunday, August 21st, JRE is proud to present NYC based rope educator Dov, presenting “Foiling the Escape Artist: Working with Body Mechanics to Remove Advantages, Preventing or Delaying Escape from Rope Bondage“:
This is a hand-on workshop exploring various aspects of dealing with “escape artist” rope bottoms. Just because you can tie a rope harness doesn’t mean it’s inescapable. We will be examining and working with various ties and strategies to understand how and why they are or aren’t effective in order to discover how to make your work more escape-proof.
We hope to see you on the 21st!
One of the benefits of being a JRE member and attending meetings is exposure to many different ways to learn rope. For the month of July, we are pleased to bring you an alternative to the lecture style presentation.
Why don’t more games include rope? Well now they do!! On Sunday July 24th, join us at the Edison Hilton Garden Inn for Rope Games with Rigger Jay.
What are the Rope Games? The Rope Games are interactive rope related activities designed to improve rope skills as well as be really damn fun. Rigger Jay is a Boston based rope top and educator who has run the Rope Games at many different events including Bound in Boston and Shibaricon. As a Rope Game participant, I can tell you they are a blast and help both tops and bottoms develop rope related problem solving.
Tops, bottoms, and switches! This is a meeting you don’t want to miss. We hope to see you all on the 24th.

So far this year, JRE has been thrilled to bring its attendees three great presentations. For the June meeting, we have decided to shift gears and bring the meeting back to the heart of our mission as a free-form rope share.
That means that the June 19th JRE meeting will not have a particular topic but instead be an open meeting where attendees can propose ideas for what they’d like to learn and what they’d like to teach.
We hope to see you all there.

Antibondage is the art of creating and controlling movement rather than stopping it. This class will provide a brief philosophical background on antibondage, followed by a presentation of antibondage in action and an opportunity for participants to experiment with their own ideas and present their results back to the whole class.
Part 1
–What is antibondage?
–Antibinding single body parts with simple objects
–Creating mobile pets and devices
–Energizing sex and sadism
Part 2
– Break out sessions for small-group brainstorming and experimentation
– Presentation of teams’ creations back to the whole class
WHAT TO BRING
Bring rope (or whatever else you use to tie). Also bring something that can move bodies or body parts. Examples include roller skates, rolling luggage, grocery carts, scooters, wheelchairs, plant dollies, skateboards, strollers, carpet skates, pogo sticks, springs, bungee cord, walkers, etc.
THIS IS A HANDS-ON CLASS, SO EVERY PARTICIPANT OR PARTICIPATING COUPLE SHOULD COME PREPARED WITH ROPE AND STUFF THAT MOVES!
(This class only takes up about an hour of the three hour meeting, we ask anyone who is there during the presentation to take part, but there will be time later for experimentation)
About RoughMercies:
A practicing dominant for most of his adult life, RoughMercies has always taken a whimsical and dynamic approach to play. Because his style leaves little room for time-consuming bondage that fixes the submissive in a single position, he has created new approaches to using rope and other materials to create and control rather than stop movement. He has presented his ideas, which he playfully refers to as “antibondage,” at various venues in New York City and Ottawa and will be teaching at Shibaricon.
I encourage you all to take a look at the photos in our presenter’s profile to get an idea of AntiBondage and it’s numerous creative uses.
